DONALD J.
CHIOFARO, PRESIDENT
Donald J. Chiofaro founded The Chiofaro Company in 1980. One year later, he undertook to build the largest office complex in Boston. Today, his $600-million, 1.8-million-square-foot International
Place - one of the top 10 office buildings in the country according to the
Wall Street Journal - is a Boston landmark and a monument to Don Chiofaro's foresight and tenacity.
Before founding The Chiofaro Company with his partner, Ted Oatis, Don was Senior Vice President of the Boston development company, Cabot, Cabot & Forbes, where he directed the National Division.
Don's business success is complemented by his community involvement: he is a founder of both the Boston Jobs Academy and the Boston Police Athletic
League - a volunteer organization of police officers who develop relationships with inner-city youths through recreational programs.
Don serves on committees for Harvard College and Boston University Medical Center and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Artery Business Committee. He is Chairman of the Committee for the Judge A. David Mazzone Memorial on Deer Island through the Boston Harbor Project. In addition, he has had a long-term interest and commitment to boys and girls youth sports. Don has coached youth hockey, baseball, basketball and rugby.
A native of Belmont, Massachusetts, Don Chiofaro graduated in 1968 from Harvard University, where he was captain of the Harvard football team, and in 1972 from Harvard Business School. Don played football briefly in the Canadian Football League. Today he counts marathoning, rollerblading, and salsa dancing among his many recreational pastimes. Don is married with four children, and resides in Belmont, Massachusetts.
